Livros há muitos

 Pois é, há muitos tipos de livros. Há livros de cozinha, de costura, romances, dramas, policiais, de bricolage, de terror, infantis, juvenis... enfim, há para todos os gostos e vêm em todos os tamanhos e feitios! A minha opinião sempre foi que os livros são os verdadeiros melhores amigos do ser humano, que nos acompanham nos melhores e nos piores momentos, que nos consolam e que podemos levar para todo o lado. Uns verdadeiros companheiros. Mas há ainda um outro tipo de livros: o livro de agulhas!

Há tempos, uma pessoa pediu-me que lhe fizesse um livro de agulhas. Já conhecia o conceito, por isso não me surpreendeu o pedido. Há livros de agulhas lindíssimos, com bordados, simples, maiores ou mais pequenos. São uma delícia. Mas nunca tinha feito nenhum! Foi um desafio que aceitei sem pensar duas vezes. A pessoa escolheu o tamanho e eu dei a escolher o tecido externo e o botão. E o resultado final é o que vos mostro hoje. Uma fofura. Foi feito com bocados de um cortinado com um padrão florido, bocados de umas calças castanhas, feltro que tinha em casa, elástico que tinha em casa e um botão metálico lindíssimo que adquiri em segunda mão. Tem dois bolsos internos e as páginas de feltro servem para espetar as agulhas e levá-las onde quisermos. 

Adoro o resultado final. É um projecto pequeno, fácil de fazer, e por isso é excelente para quem está a começar a costurar à mão. É também uma excelente forma de aproveitar tecidos de roupas que tenham em casa!

That's right, there's all types of books in this world. There are cooking books, sewing books, novels, drama, thrillers, DIY, horror, children's, teenagers... I mean, there's books for all tastes and they come in all shaped and sizes! My opinion has always been that books at the true peoples' best friends, that are there for the bad and the good moments, that are a shoulder we can cry on, and that we can carry everywhere. True companions. But there's another type of book: the needle book!

Some time ago, someone asked me to make them a needle book. I already knew the concept, so it wasn't a surprise. There are beautiful needle books out there, some with embroidery, some bigger, some smaller. They are deliciously beautiful. But I had never made one! It was a challenge I accepted without thinking twice. The person chose the outside fabric and the button. And the final result is what I am showing you today. So cute. It was made with pieces of an old curtain with a flower pattern, pieces of brown trousers, felt I had at home, elastic I had at home and a gorgeous metallic button I bought in second hand. It has two inside pockets and the person can pinch the needles in the felt pages so they carry them everywhere. 

I love the final result. It's a small and easy project, perfect for someone who is learning to sew by hand. It's also an excellent way to repurpose fabric from clothing you might have at home!
