Boneca leitora

 Durante o mês de Novembro, recebi um pedido para fazer uma boneca para uma criança. Nunca tinha feito uma boneca na vida! Sabia que ia ser um desafio. No início hesitei em fazer, mas a pessoa que fez este pedido deu-me tempo e liberdade para tentar. Tive algumas bonecas de pano durante a minha infância, todas elas diferentes, e por isso tinha uma ideia de como fazer, por onde começar. Por isso, decidi aceitar este desafio e pôr mãos à obra. 

Hoje mostro-vos o resultado final. Esta bonequinha foi feita com bocados de um forro branco de um cortinado, o enchimento foi enchimento de almofada que tinha em casa, o cabelo foi feito com lã que tinha em casa, os olhos e a boca foram feitas com linha de bordar que comprei em segunda mão, e o vestido foi feito com bocados de uma camisa. Até os elasticos e fitas que pus no cabelo da boneca vieram de um frasquinho onde costumo guardar fitas, elasticos, cordões que chegam cá a casa e que não deito no lixo. Esta bonequinha não podia ser uma simples boneca. Tinha de ser uma boneca leitora. Assim tinha sido o pedido. Por isso, adicionei um livro numa das mãos. O livro foi feito com bocados de feltro e tecido que tinha em casa. 

Adorei fazer esta boneca. E deu-me vontade de nunca mais comprar bonecos para crianças e começar a fazer mais bonecas para as crianças da família. Gosto imenso do resultado final. Não fazia ideia se ia conseguir fazer, mas deu-me imenso gozo todo o processo de planeamento, construção, e aprendizagem. Estou super orgulhosa de mim mesma! E fico ainda mais feliz de saber que uma criança terá consigo esta amiga para brincar. Foi um trabalho minucioso, mas sem dúvida que compensou. E passei a valorizar ainda mais o trabalho de quem faz bonecas de pano. Porque é quando experimentamos que passamos a saber o que custa fazer aquilo que por vezes compramos a preços super baixos e injustos sem pensar em quem os fez. E o melhor de tudo? Aproveitei tecidos que tinha em casa e não precisei de comprar material nenhum. Fica mais uma ideia do que podem fazer com tecidos de roupas que tenham em casa.

During the month of November I received a request to make a doll for a child. I had never made a doll in my life! I knew it was going to be a challenge. In the beginning, I hesitated in doing it, but the person who made the request gave me the time and freedom to try. I had cloth dolls during my childhood, all of them different, so I had an idea on how to make one, where to start. So, I decided to accept the challenge and I started working on this project.

Today, I am showing you the final result. This doll was made with pieces of a white inside fabric from a curtain, the filling came from old pillows, the hair was made with wool that I had at home, the eyes and mouth were embroidered using thread that I bought second hand, and the dress was made with pieces of an old shirt. Even the hair bands and ribbon that I put on the doll's head came from a pot where I keep all the elastics, cord and ribbon that comes to the house and that I don't throw in the trash. This doll couldn't be a simple doll. It had to be a "reader doll". That was the request. So, I added a book on one of the hands. The book was made with pieces of felt and fabric I had at home.

I loved making this doll. And made me want to never buy a doll ever again and start making dolls for the children of the family. I really like the final result. I had no idea I would be able to make it, but I honestly enjoyed the process of planning, building and learning. I am super proud of myself! And it makes me even happier to know that a child will play with this doll. It was a detailed work, but it was definitely worth it. And I know value even more the work of people who make cloth dolls. Because it's when we try to make something that we learn what is takes to make things that sometimes are sold at low and unfair prices, without thinking about who made them. And the best part? I only used materials I had at home, I didn't have to buy any new material. So, here is another idea on what you can do with old clothing fabric you might have at home.
