De improviso

 As pessoas que me seguem nas redes sociais viram que, há pouco tempo, encomendei umas prints de uma artista Norte-Americana, a Addie. Andava há meses a namorar a arte dela, cheia de detalhes e com imagens com as quais me identifico muito. Decidi apaixonar-me por várias e encomendar todas ao mesmo tempo, para reduzir a pegada de carbono que já ia existir. 

Ora, a Addie não só faz umas gravuras e prints lindas, como também é apologista de remendar as roupas até ao limite (se é que este limite existe!). E uma das prints que ela tinha em loja era o seu "Mending Manifesto" ("Manifesto do Remendar"). Claro que esta print teve se vir parar cá a casa, não fosse fã das artes de remendar. Enquanto que emoldurei as restantes prints com molduras normais, com madeira e vidro, esta print precisava de uma moldura que lhe fizesse justiça. Decidi, então, fazer uma moldura improvisada, no espírito do reaproveitamento de materais. 

Hoje, mostro-vos o resultado final da moldura com a print já colocada. A moldura foi feita com bocados de cartão de uma caixa de fruta que guardei há muitos meses. Bastou forrar as laterais com um tecido colorido que tinha em casa e que me tinha sido dado para dar um ar super colorido e bonito. Porque os tecidos não servem apenas para coser! Podem ser utilizados em trabalhos manuais deste tipo também e muitos outros, basta puxar pela imaginação. Deixei uma abertura na margem de cima para poder tirar e pôr qualquer print lá dentro, de forma a que possa reaproveitar esta moldura para outra print se um dia me apetecer. Por agora, acho que esta print e a sua moldura combinam perfeitamente. Uma coisa tão simples e fácil de fazer, pela qual tenho muito mais estima do que uma moldura comprada. Agora, moram as duas na minha secretária e não podiam ter encontrado melhor lugar.

People who follow me on social media might have seen that, some time ago, I ordered some prints from a North-American artist, Addie. I had been admiring her art for many months, full of details and images with which I fully identify myself with. I decided to keep falling in love with the prints until I had a list, to order them all at the same time, to reduce the carbon footprint that would already exist.

So, Addie doesn't only make beautiful prints, she is also someone who mends her clothing to the limit (if this limit exists!). And one of the prints she had in her store was her "Mending Manifesto". Of course I had to order this print to come live in my house, being a fan of mending myself. And while I framed the other prints in normal frames, made of wood and glass, the manifesto needed something special. I decided to make an improvised frame, in the spirit of using materials I had at home. 

Today, I am showing you the final result of this frame with the print already inside. The frame was made with pieces of cardboard from a fruit box I kept for many months. I only had to put some fabric over the side parts to give it a more colorful and pretty look. Because fabric is not only for sewing! You can use it in other manual works, of this sort and others, you only need to let your imagination flow. I kept an opening at the top of the frame, to be able to take the print off and put it in again, in case I want to reuse the frame for another print. For now, I think this print and its frame combine perfectly. Such a simple thing to make, and I appreciate much more than a bought frame. Now, they both live on my desk and I think they couldn't be in a better place.
