Restinhos

 Desde Janeiro, quando comecei a compor o meu escritório/quarto de costura que comecei a repensar a forma como geria os resíduos que resultavam das costuras. Todos aqueles restinhos de linhas, restinhos de tecidos que já não podiam ser aproveitados, etc. Porque, até aí, o fim destes resíduos era o lixo normal. Com as costuras, produzo diferentes tipos de resíduos. Há os cortes que ainda dão para aproveitar nas costuras, em estilo de patchwork, e há restinhos daqueles tão pequeninos, e restinhos de linhas, que já não dá para reaproveitar senão em formato de enchimento. São restos tão pequenos que já nem dão para costurar. 

Decidi fazer um contentor para colocar no escritório e onde pudesse pôr apenas resíduos de costura. Não comprei contentor nenhum. Tinha uma caixa de cartão grande entre as muitas que costumo guardar. Prendi as abas aos lados da caixa com fita-cola de papel para a deixar sempre aberta, e pus num canto do quarto de costura. 

Porque é que estes restinhos são tão importantes? Porque não são lixo! Tudo isto pode ser aproveitado ainda. Nomeadamente para fazer de enchimento para objectos como almofadas, brinquedos para crianças, e muito mais! Podem até por dentro de almofadas que já estejam a ficar muito moles e a perder enchimento. 

Resultado deste pequeno projeto que não custou um cêntimo? o Écostura deixou de produzir qualquer lixo. Só resíduos. O que é bem diferente. Ficam as fotos deste "sistema".

Since January, when I started building my home office/sewing room, that I started thinking about the way I managed residues resulting from sewing. All the little pieces of thread and of fabric that can't be used anymore. Because, until then, all those residues were going to the trash can. With sewing, I produce different types of residue. There are the fabric cuts which can still be sewed together and make some kind of a patchwork, and there are those very very small pieces of fabric and bits of thread that cannot be sewed together anymore but can still be used as filling. 

I decided to make a bin to put int he office where I could put the sewing residues. I didn't buy anything. I had a big cardboard box, among all of those that I store. I glued the opening parts to the sides with paper tape to leave it open all the time, and I put the box in a corner of the sewing room.

Why are these residues so important? Because they are not waste! Everything can still be used. Namely to make filling for certain objects, like pillows, children's toys, and much more! You can even put them inside pillows which already have a very old and worn inside. 

Result of this project that didn't cost a cent? I stopped producing waste when working on Écostura. Only residues. Which is very different. Here as the photos of this "system".
