Lavanda na gaveta

Cá em casa, não utilizamos detergente nem amaciador para lavar a roupa. Lavamos a roupa com um Ecoegg, o que implica que reduzimos o consumo de embalagens (de plástico e de outros materiais) nesta área, bem como reduzimos os químicos na roupa e que entram em contacto com a nossa pele. No entanto, o Ecoegg não deixa cheiro na roupa. A roupa fica limpa e cheira a lavado mas não tem cheiros de aromas artificiais. 

Nós gostamos que a roupa não tenha cheiro a aromas artificiais, mas se há coisa com que cresci foi com as almofadinhas de alfazema nas gavetas e nos armários. Gosto destes cheirinhos naturais na roupa. Desde que comecei a viver sozinha que ainda não tinha arranjado almofadinhas destas. A minha mãe ofereceu-me uns cheirinhos naturais de uma marca portuguesa, que adoro e tenho em uso nas gavetas. Mesmo assim, queria muito fazer cheirinhos para os armários de roupa.

Por coincidência, tinha uma lavanda a secar cá em casa. Tinha um cheirinho fantástico. Cortei a maior parte dos ramos com folhas e flores e pus mãos à obra! Aproveitei bocadinhos pequenos de tecidos em segunda mão que me foram doados e não tardou a que tivesse as almofadinhas de alfazema prontas. Adicionei um bocadinho de fita nas almofadas para poderem ser penduradas no armário, em cabides. Têm um cheiro divinal! As que vêem nas fotos seguiram para casa de uns amigos. Mas vou fazer umas cá para casa com o resto de lavanda que tenho. 

Ficam as fotos do resultado final. E fica a ideia do que podem fazer com os ramos podados e secos de alfazema que tenham em casa. Peças pequenas mas que nos ajudam a dar uso aos bocadinhos mais pequenos de tecido que às vezes pensamos que são lixo. Mas não são. Têm sempre uso.

At home, I don't use detergents to wash our clothes. We wash out clothes with the Ecoegg, which allows us to reduce the consumption of packaged goods (plastic or other materials) in this department, and that also allows us to reduce the amount of chemicals in our clothes and that enter in contact with our skin. However, the Ecoegg leaves no scent on the clothes. After being washed, the clothes are indeed clean and smell of washed clothes, but don't have artificial aromas. 

We like that our clothes don't have artificial smells, but if there is something I grew up with and I miss is the lavender cushion inside the drawers and wardrobes. I like these more natural scents on the clothing. Since I started living alone I didn't had the opportunity to get some of these cushions. My mother offered me some natural scented sticks from a Portuguese brand, which I use in my drawers. But still, I really wanted to make lavender cushions for the wardrobes.

Coincidentally, I had a lavender bush at home which was drying. It had an amazing smell. I cut most of the branches with leaves and flowers and I started making the cushions! I used small pieces of second-hand fabric that was given to me and it didn't take long until the cushions were ready. I added a piece of ribbon to be able to hang the cushions in hangers inside the wardrobes. The cushions smell heavenly! The ones you see on the photos below went to a friend's house. But I am going to make some for us, with the remaining lavender branches. 

Here are the photos of the final result. And here is an idea on what you can do with dried branches, leaves and flowers from lavender bushes that you might have at home. Small items that help us use the smaller pieces of fabric we sometimes think are waste. They are not. You can always use them some way.
