Roxo ameixa

De todas as malas que já fiz, a que parece ter mais fãs é a primeira. Aquela roxa, que fiz para mim, e me acompanha para todo o lado. Como é óbvio, dela não me desfaço. É minha companheira de passeios e viagens. Respondo sempre que, se quiserem uma mala roxa, terão de esperar que me chegue às mãos um par de calças roxas para eu poder fazer algo semelhante. Que nunca seria igual à minha. Como sabem, trabalho com o que me chega às mãos, e calças roxas há muitas. De todas as calças roxas que já me vieram entregar, nenhuma era igual à cor e textura da minha mala. E o tecido do interior? Esse já nem bocadinhos tenho! 

Bom, isto tudo para dizer que me pediram que fizesse uma mala igual à minha. Por sorte, tinha umas calças de ganga roxo-escuro, cor de ameixa, cá em casa. Por isso, aceitei o pedido. Para o exterior, utilizei bocados das ditas calças. Para o interior, utilizei um tecido (escolhido pela futura dona da mala) que me tinham oferecido há meses e que combinava muito bem. Depois, adicionei um bolso interno e um fecho. As alças, são de cabedal, castanho-escuro. Tive de as comprar para fazer a mala, porque não tinha cintos que fizessem um efeito semelhante. É já raro fazer malas com este tipo de alças. Só quando me dizem que preferem este tipo de alças. E, embora não sejam ajustáveis, são muito resistentes. Falo por experiência própria, têm sido fantásticas na minha mala, que já uso há quase dois anos.

Of all the handbags I've made, the one people seem to like the most is the first. The purple one, that I made for myself, the one that accompanies me everywhere. Obviously, I don't let go of her. It's my partner for walks and travels. I always tell people that, if they want a purple handbag, they'll have to wait that a purple pair of jeans reaches my hands so that I can do something similar. It would never be the same as mine though. As you know, I work with the clothes that people give me, and there are a lot of purple jeans in this world. Of all the purple jeans I have received, none of them has the same color and texture as my handbag. And the inside fabric? There isn't even a piece of it anymore!

Well, all this to say that someone asked me to make them a handbag like mine. Luckily, I had dark-purple jeans, plum color, at home. So, I acepted this order. For the outsider, I used pieces of these jeans. For the inside, I used a piece of fabric (chosen by the future owner of the handbag) someone had given me a few months ago and that combined really well with the jeans. The handles are leather, dark-brown. I had to buy these, because I didn't have belts which could make the same effect. It's rare that I make this kind of handbags with leather handles these days. Only when people ask specifically for such type of handles. And, although they are not adjustable, they are very resistent. Speaking from my own experience, they have worked really well in my handbag, which I've been using for two years.
