Alternativas para o Natal

Chegámos, finalmente, a Dezembro. É Natal. E eu adoro o Natal: a comida, o convívio, o quentinho dos aquecedores e das lareiras, as árvores de Natal e restantes enfeites, as cores, as ruas iluminadas... Enfim, tudo isso e muito mais. Mas detesto ir às compras. Ou encontro como que por surpresa algo que gostaria de oferecer a alguém especial, ou não compro nada. Gosto mais do convívio com a família do que os presentes.

No entanto, sei que há muitas pessoas que gostam de ir às compras no Natal. Hoje, neste post, deixo-vos um destino alternativo para quem pretende comprar roupa. Falo da loja vintage A Outra Face da Lua. Esta loja vende itens em segunda mão: roupa, malas, sapatos, écharpes, chapéus, entre outros. Podem encontra-la na Baixa de Lisboa, numa loja aparentemente antiga. Tem um ambiente fantástico. É grande, cheia de roupa maravilhosa para explorarem. Passeiem-se pelos casacos e pelos vestidos e depressa vão encontrar uma ou duas peças de roupa pela qual se apaixonam instantaneamente. Pelo menos, é o que acontece comigo. Aqui podem também encontrar camisolas com temas relacionados com o Natal! E kimonos! E camisas de flanela! São todas lindas!

No final das compras, aproveitem o bar da loja para beberem um chocolate quente para combater o frio que se sente na rua. Ou um copo de vinho. Ou uma cerveja. Também servem refeições. 

Neste Natal, lembrem-se, como vos mostrei em posts anteriores, do impacto ambiental da produção de uma só t-shirt. E que tal começarem a fazer um exercício? Olharem para o vosso armário ou gavetas, e calcular se precisam mesmo de roupa nova. Porque não simplesmente não comprar mais roupa? Ou comprar só o que realmente necessitam? Metade das roupas nos nossos armários não usamos. Acabamos por usar umas peças mais do que outras. E que tal fazerem uma limpeza e tirar as roupas que não precisam? Assim ficam com mais material para transformar, para os vossos trabalhos de costura! Ou, porque não dar a roupa a alguém que precise? Pensem nisto.

Posso contar convosco? Eu já proibi as avós e as tias de me comprar roupa e já estou preparada para não comprar também. Vamos a isto?

We finally arrived to december. It's Christmas time. And I love Christmas: the food, the gathering with the family, the warmth of the heating system, the fireplaces, the Christmas trees and other decorations, the colors, the lights on the streets... Anyway, this and much more. But I hate shopping. Either I find something that I would like to offer someone special, or I don't buy anything. I prefer the gathering with the family, rather than the presents.

However, I know that many people like to go shopping during this season. Today, in this post, I give you an alternative place for those who want to buy clothes. I am talking abou the vintage shop A Outra Face da Lua. This shop sells second-hand items: clothes, handbags, shoes, écharpes, hats, among others. You can find it in Lisbon's down town, in an old building. It has a fantastic atmosphere. It's big, full of wonderful clothes for you to explore. Walk among the jackets and dresses and soon you'll find a piece of two for which you will fall in love with. At least, it's what happens with me. Here, you can also find wool jumpers with Christmas related themes! And kimonos! And winter shirts! They are all beautiful!

Whe you finish shopping, you can enjoy the bar in the shop, drink a hot cholocate to fight the cold outsider. Or a glass of wine. They also serve meals. 

This Christmas, remember, as I showed you in previous posts, of the environmental impact of a single t-shirt. What about starting an exercise? Look into your closets and think if you really need to buy new clothes. Why not simply not buy more clothes? Or just buy what you really need? We don't use and wear at least half of the clothes in our closets. We end up using a few items more times than other items. Why don't you make a cleaning in your closet and take out everything you don't wear? You end up with more material to transform and use in your sewing projects! Or, why not give those clothes to someone who really needs them? Think about this.

Can I count with you? I already asked my grandmothers, aunts and mother not to buy me clothes. Shall we do this?
