Bolsa vegan

Durante o Verão, uma amiga falou-me que tinha umas calças pretas lá para casa que já não usava. Pediu-me para fazer uma mala com elas. No entanto, queria um formato diferente daquele que tenho utilizado na confecção das malas até agora. Queria um modelo específico e não queria alças de cabedal. Queria uma mala "vegan". Aceitei imediatamente o desafio. 

O exterior da mala foi feito com a maior parte do tecido das calças pretas. O interior é o forro já utilizado em trabalhos anteriores. Coloquei os círculos de ferro, o que me valeu um dedo martelado e com uma bolha. A alça é completamente ajustável, com fivela, e é feita de um material semelhante ao papel. É um produto difícil de trabalhar. Tem de ficar debaixo de água quente durante 15-20 minutos. Depois espreme-se para retirar o excesso de água e só assim se consegue coser. Dobrei duas agulhas das mais fortes no processo. O cordão é feito com tecido das próprias calças. 

Tudo isto valeu a pena! A amiga ficou contente com o resultado final, e eu também. Esta mala ajudou-me a descobrir novos formatos de malas e novas formas de transformar roupa. Inspirem-se!

During the summer, a friend of mine told me about some black jeans she had at her house and which she wasn't using anymore. She asked me to make a handbag with them. However, she wanted a different format from the one I've been using when I make handbags. She wanted a specific model, with no leather handles. She wanted a "vegan" handbag. I immediately accepted the challenge.

The exterior of the handbag was made with the majority of the fabric of the black jeans. The inside was made with fabric used in other of my works. I put the iron circles, which resulted in a hammered finger and a blister. The handler is completely adjustable, with a buckle, and it's made with a material similar to paper. It's a product which is very hard to work with. It has to be put under warm water for 15 or 20 minutes. Afterwards you need to squeeze the water out and only then the fabric is soft enough to sew. I ruined two strong needles during the process. The string used to close the bag was made out of fabric from the jeans.

All of this was worth it! My friend was happy with the final result, and so was I. This project helped me to discover that I can transform clothes into bags with different formats from the one I used before. Get inspired!
